QUEEN CITY FINTECH ANNOUNCES 2019 SPRING COHORT
Charlotte-based fintech accelerator Celebrates its 10th class!
March 18, 2019 - Charlotte, NC – Queen City Fintech , a Charlotte-based fintech accelerator, will be hosting its 10th class this month! This spring’s class comprises of eight innovative startups that will be growing in the Queen City from March 25th to June 11th. Class 10’s Demo Day will be the capstone event of Fintech Generations on June 11, 2019.
Queen City Fintech is not only dedicated to bringing top tier talent to the Southeast, but also facilitating access to investment capital for compelling opportunities. CFV Ventures , Charlotte’s first fintech-focused venture capital fund, has established a proprietary relationship with Queen City Fintech and anticipates that a significant amount of its deal flow will be generated by the accelerator. Nat Clarkson, one of CFV’s Managing Partners, noted that “the selection process was extremely competitive this year, with less than 3% of the companies reviewed admitted to the cohort. Each has a strong value proposition and we are very excited about partnering with the founders to help them continue to grow and develop their businesses.”
The eight startups comprising QC Fintech’s 10 class represent a range of solutions across the fintech space from equity crowdfunding to mortgage solutions. Marvin Abrinica, founder and CEO of Wunderfund, says “equity crowdfunding is a powerful way to raise money and market a new business. You can engage your community and bring new investors to the table. Imagine how much more could be done by tapping into the crowd to support bank-funded deals.” Their team says they are looking forward to learning how to partner with the banks to power commercial fundraising deals using their technology.
The accelerator will kick off on March 25, 2019. QC Fintech prides itself on the community and robust network that it has cultivated that serves to support the companies that come through the program. Another Class 10 founder, Jim Finnerty of Myriad Data Security, mentioned “I'm most excited for the mentor network that QCF has developed. Even during the selection process, it was impressive how engaged local businesses and entrepreneurs are in the QCF cohorts.”
